Bombay Cream Donuts – A Liquor Infused Cream Filled Donut Recipe

Ingredients: Cream Filling

  • ½ cup SomruS
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Ingredients: Donuts

  • 1⁄4 cup SomruS
  • 1⁄4 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • Melted butter & powdered sugar for dusting
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup + 1 tsp sugar
  • 2½ cups flour


Cream Filling
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and, using a food mixer, mix for 10 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix yeast, 1 tsp sugar & ¼ cup warm water until it foams. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt and ¼ cup sugar. Pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, milk and SomruS. Keep stirring until everything is thoroughly blended, and looks similar to cake batter. Let the dough expand until double in size & then pat lightly to about 2 cm in height. Dip a round cookie cutter in flour, cut the dough & use a spatula to transfer onto a large baking tray. Preheat oven to 375°. Brush donuts with melted butter and bake until lightly brown (about 20 minutes). Prepare a piping bag fitted with a long round cake decorating tip and use to pipe SomruS Cream into the donuts. Lightly dust with butter and powdered sugar & watch the donut grabbing ensue!
