Just in Time for Fall, The SomruS Toddy

The leaves are changing, the temperatures are dropping and fall is finally upon us. For some, it’s a time for contemplative nostalgia, a bittersweet changing of the seasons. For us, autumn is the time for boots, jackets and a return to some of our favorite wardrobe items— and sweet, hot, boozy toddies.

What is a hot toddy?

Traditionally, it was a blend of hot water, whiskey, honey, lemon and possibly a few spices. But over the years the recipes have expanded, and they often feature tea now instead of hot water. Tea is sort of our territory, and with SomruS’ unique and creamy blend of sweetness and spice, we thought we’d be a perfect pairing for the autumn months.

We chose chamomile as the base of the cocktail. With chamomile’s distinct apple notes, it evokes the harvest flavors of the season. SomruS brings the sweetness and spice, and it blends perfectly with the hearty burn of white rum or vodka. Skip the lemon though. SomruS is made with all natural cream, which doesn’t play well with citric acids. Trust us on this one. It’s a simple cocktail to make, and even easier to enjoy as the nights grow colder. We highly recommend warming up with one today.
