Plan an Indian Themed Picnic with SomruS
Quick! What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of picnic foods? Sandwiches? Cold chicken? An endless variety of salads? Sure, all of those foods are commonly accepted and travel well. You don’t usually think of Indian dishes, but you should. Many are surprisingly versatile, and delicious both hot and cold.
Consider spicing up your next picnic with pakoras and samosas—both of which are still delicious cold. Kebabs make a wonderful, travel sized addition to any meal. And you can even throw in a salad—just toss together diced cucumber, tomatoes, onion, coriander and lemon, and your meal is set. The Internet is a wonderful source for recipes, so we won’t bore you with any of those, but what we can help out with are your beverage choices.
When picking the perfect summer sipper, we have two recommendations for outdoor enjoyment: one featuring our Alphonso Mango Liqueur, and the other featuring classic SomruS. Both are crowd-pleasers, and certain to delight your picnic guests.
SomruS Alphonso Mango Lassi
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- ½ cup of Alphonso Mango SomruS
- 1 cup very ripe mango (chopped up) or a cup of canned mango pulp
- 2 tsp honey
- Dash of ground cardamom
Combine mango, yogurt, milk, sugar and cardamom into a blender. Blend for 2 minutes
Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cardamom and enjoy!
SomruS Iced Tea
- 2 ounces of SomruS
- 6 ounces of tea (we recommend Black Darjeeling, but most teas work. Avoid anything with lemon juice however, as it curdles the cream)
Mix the SomruS and tea, serve over ice, garnish with fruit and enjoy!
