Recipe: Smoky SomruS, A Single Malt Scotch Whisky Cocktail

Today’s cocktail recipe makes use of a single malt scotch whisky called Laphroaig, the “world’s most richly flavored scotch whisky,” from the United Kingdom, but it can be switched out for most single malt scotch whiskies. Why no “e” in whisky? The lack of an ‘e’ is important because that denotes the major difference between an Irish and scotch-based whisky.

  • 2 oz SomruS
  • 1 oz Laphroaig
  • Large ice cube or sphere
  • Mesquite smoke

  • Add ice, Laphroaig and SomruS and stir with a bar spoon
  • Fill another another old fashioned glass with mesquite smoke using a Polyscience Smoking Gun and trap with a coaster
  • Place glass with smoke upside down on top of cocktail glass and remove coaster
  • Watch the smoke drop into your delicious Whisky Cocktail
