Affogato—or “drowned” in Italian—is basically the most important direction when making this boozy dessert. Choc-o full of flavor, Jeni’s Darkest Chocolate Ice Cream, freshly brewed espresso, and our Somrus Chai liqueur team up to create a taste sensation you’ll contemplate having before dinner.

You’ll need an ice cream scoop, serving dish, shot glass, and spoon. Here we go!


Dark Chocolate Chai Affogato recipe:

1 scoop of Jeni’s Darkest Chocolate Ice Cream
1 shot of espresso (or strongly brewed coffee)
1 shot of Somrus Chai

Scoop the ice cream into your favorite dish. Pour hot espresso (or coffee) over top. Drown the rest with Somrus Chai!

If you really want to indulge, add in some pistachios or shaved chocolate or sprinkles or espresso beans or pecans or… all of the above. Voila! Dessert is served!


Variation station: Affogato-bout the best part! Can’t find Jeni’s Darkest Chocolate Ice Cream*? You can substitute tons of ice cream flavors and this recipe is still delicious. Vanilla, salted caramel, butter pecan, coffee, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip… to name a few.
